The town of Málaga has been the venue for the closing of the I Congress of Female Firefighters of Spain, an event that brought together women from the emergency field and featured the presence of the delegate of the Government of the Junta de Andalucía, Patricia Navarro.
Support for the visibility of women's roles
During the event held at the La Térmica cultural centre, Navarro emphasised the importance of female participation in emergency services, providing a more empathetic and sensitive response to critical situations.
Alongside Navarro, Manuel Marmolejo, president of the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters of Málaga, and María Dolores Vergara, deputy for Equality, Social Services and Families, among others, were present. They accompanied the female firefighters from different regions of the country.
Towards equality and work-life balance in emergencies
In her speech, Patricia Navarro highlighted the efforts of the congress organisers for selecting Málaga as the venue and praised the integration of more women into the sector. She emphasised that this progress not only enriches professionalism but also provides role models for future generations.
Navarro mentioned important topics discussed at the congress, such as physical tests, maternity protocols, and the need to eliminate glass ceilings. According to the delegate, these initiatives represent a significant step towards real equality in the field of emergencies.
The I Congress of Female Firefighters of Spain took place over three days, addressing female representation, labour rights, and work-life balance in the sector.
