The new skatepark in Marbella hosted the Official Spanish Championship of Roller Freestyle Park, with victories for Sofía Pozo and Álex Fernández in the absolute category. The event serves as a selection criterion for the World Championship in Paraguay.

The competition skatepark in Marbella became the epicentre of national roller freestyle last weekend. The recently opened facility hosted the Official Championship of the Royal Spanish Skating Federation (RFEP), bringing together the best specialists in the country in a discipline that continues to grow.

Absolute dominance by Sofía Pozo and Álex Fernández

In the women's category, Sofía Pozo Petkevicius was crowned champion with a score of 84.17, surpassing Carla Martín (62.77) and Eneritz Quincoces Orbea (57.93). The internationally experienced skater delivered a run full of high-difficulty tricks that left the audience at the Marbella venue breathless.

In the men's competition, Álex Fernández Jurado took the title with 89.30 points, followed by Joel Martínez Sánchez (72.10) and Aitor Mendicute Navarrete (58.07). Fernández dominated the final with a solid performance that confirmed his status as the favourite.

Generational shift and champions in all categories

The championship shone not only for the level of the elite but also for the large number of young talents. Lucas Pozo Petkevicius was crowned in U14 Mixed, Paula Guerrero Ávila in U19 Women's, Marcos Paino Izquierdo in U19 Men's, and Juan José Suárez Arana in Master +30. The variety of ages demonstrated that Spanish roller freestyle has a bright future.

The atmosphere in the skatepark was unbeatable during the training and competition days. Attendees enjoyed rounds filled with high-difficulty tricks, consolidating the growth of this sport both at the absolute level and among the new generations.

Gateway to the World Championship in Paraguay

Beyond the titles, the championship had strategic value. Alongside the Iberdrola Skate Series event that will take place in Montmeló in two weeks, it will serve as a selection criterion to form the Spanish team that will compete in the World Skate Championships, scheduled for October in Paraguay. The skaters aspiring to be there know: every trick counts.

The organisation thanked the support of the Marbella City Council, which hosted the tenth anniversary of the championship and contributed to the success of an edition that reinforces the growth of roller freestyle in Spain. For skating enthusiasts on the Costa del Sol, having an event of this level at home is a luxury that brings elite sport closer to their daily lives.

The skatepark in Marbella, with its modern facilities, is establishing itself as a benchmark for future competitions. Who knows if a local, watching the champions, will be inspired to lace up their skates and try their luck. The next generation is ready.
