Marbella's municipal platform for reserving moragas has received 1,529 requests in less than two months, averaging 27 requests daily. San Pedro Alcántara accounts for nearly half of the reservations.
Marbella's municipal website for reserving spaces for moragas has reached 1,529 requests in less than two months since its launch. The service, active since May 6, has recorded an average of over 27 daily requests up to June 30.
San Pedro Alcántara leads moragas reservations
By area, San Pedro Alcántara has the highest number of requests, with 728, representing 47.6% of the total. It is followed by Marbella, with 694 requests (45.4%). La Víbora totals 59 (3.9%) and Nueva Andalucía, 48 (3.1%).
The usage rate has been increasing: between May 6 and May 31, 539 reservations were formalised, while in June the figure rose to 740, an increase of nearly 37%. In the first thirteen days of July, 250 reservations have already been processed, reflecting the tool's consolidation during the peak summer season.
A quick and digital service for residents and tourists
The platform, available at barbacoasymoragas.marbella.es, allows for a quick and completely digital process. The councillor in charge, Diego López, has rated “these results very positively, which demonstrate the usefulness of a tool designed to improve the organisation of moragas, optimise the management of authorised spaces, and provide citizens with a more agile, accessible, and transparent service.”
López added that the City Council will continue to work on improving the user experience and implementing digital solutions that simplify municipal procedures and contribute to more efficient coastal management.
For Marbella residents, this tool saves time and avoids trips to municipal offices. Interested parties can check the availability of spaces on authorised beaches and reserve in advance, especially on weekends and holidays, when demand is higher.
The website also includes information about the rules for using moragas, such as the permitted hours (from 10:00 to 22:00) and the obligation to leave the space clean. The City Council reminds that non-compliance may lead to penalties.
With over 1,500 requests in just two months, the initiative has established itself as a success in citizen participation. The councillor has indicated that, looking ahead to next summer, they will consider expanding the number of available spaces and improving the website interface.
Marbella has more than 20 designated points for moragas on its beaches, distributed among San Pedro Alcántara, the city centre, La Víbora, and Nueva Andalucía. Reservations are free and can be made up to 15 days in advance.
