The Environmental Education and Consumer Association (ADEAC) has rated the inspection of Fuengirola's four Blue Flag beaches as "positive". The Town Hall will incorporate a recommendation to improve accessibility for people with colour blindness.
The Town Hall of Fuengirola has received a boost for its coastal management. The ADEAC has issued a report, dated 24 August, which rates positively the inspection carried out on 20 August of the four beaches in the city that display the Blue Flag this 2026: Boliches-Gaviotas, Carvajal, Castillo-Ejido, and Fuengirola.
The mayor, Ana Mula, announced the result during the ordinary Plenary held this Wednesday, as part of the Presidency matters. In her speech, she highlighted that the entity's document expressly acknowledges the work carried out on the beaches and the efforts to provide the best possible service, including awareness and education for rational and sustainable use of the coastline.
The ADEAC report especially congratulates the lifeguard team and values the commitment and professionalism of the beach technician, Sandra Millán. It also specifically recognises the adapted area and the devices aimed at visually impaired people on the Boliches-Gaviotas beach.
The mayor wanted to extend the recognition to all the staff who make the functioning of the beaches possible. "I want to extend this congratulations to all the personnel who are part of the various services of the Beach device. Because behind our four Blue Flags are many people who work every day, especially during the summer season, to ensure our beaches are in the best condition, safe, accessible, and offer quality service," she stated.
Beyond the congratulations, the ADEAC document includes a recommendation for the four beaches: to use white flags with symbols to facilitate the identification of sea conditions for people with colour blindness. The Town Hall has welcomed this suggestion and will work to incorporate it, thus reinforcing accessibility and inclusion measures on the coastline.
"We have always understood that accessibility must be present in all areas of the city and also, of course, on our beaches. That is why we will address this recommendation from ADEAC and incorporate the necessary improvements so that information about sea conditions can be identified by all people," explained Ana Mula.
The entity's communication concludes by congratulating the Town Hall for the work carried out on the Blue Flag beaches and for the effort to promote awareness and education for rational and sustainable use of the beaches. This recognition comes in the middle of the summer season, when the local beach device operates at full capacity to ensure safety and quality service for residents and visitors.
