The Spanish Association Against Cancer in Marbella has presented its 41st Gala Dinner, which will take place on August 1 at Finca La Concepción. The event, a mainstay of the Costa del Sol, aims to raise funds for free care programmes for patients and their families.
The essential charitable event of the Marbella summer now has a date. The Spanish Association Against Cancer in Marbella has revealed the details of its 41st Gala Dinner, which will be held on August 1 at the iconic Finca La Concepción. With a capacity for 600 attendees, the evening promises to be, once again, a hub of solidarity and glamour.
The gala, regarded as the oldest charity dinner on the Costa del Sol and one of the oldest in Spain, has a clear objective: to raise funds for the programmes and services that the association provides free of charge to patients and their families. Behind this event is the board of directors led by Santiago Gómez-Villares, who has not limited himself to just the dinner.
Golf Tournament and 'The Fighter' Award
This year, a new exclusive golf tournament has been announced, which will take place on July 31 at the Real Club de Golf Las Brisas, with a maximum of 120 players. An opportunity to combine sport and solidarity at one of the most exclusive courses in the area.
At the press conference, the winner of this edition's 'The Fighter' award was also revealed. The award, which consists of a piece by artist David Marshall, has been given to politician and national deputy of the PP, Borja Sémper. According to the association, the recognition is due to "his contribution to normalising cancer and for giving visibility to those who fight against the disease from anonymity." His testimony, they say, has helped break stigmas and provide hope.
Music, Laughter, and Solidarity on a Magical Night
The evening will feature musical performances by Efecto Mariposa and the group The Vintage Experience, who will provide the soundtrack for the night. As is tradition, there will be a raffle of over 200 prizes, an important auction of artworks and exclusive experiences, all enlivened by comedian and presenter Federico de Juan.
The hosts of the gala will once again be choreographer Poty Castillo and actress Eva Ruiz, a duo that has already won over the Marbella audience in previous editions.
The Real Impact of Solidarity: 462 Patients Treated
Behind the spotlight and the red carpet, there is a reality that justifies every euro raised. The local office of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Marbella has assisted 462 patients and 135 family members over the past year, conducting a total of 2,318 sessions of care and support. Additionally, 127 people have received support through the Social Care service, 290 have been attended to by the Psychology department (with 847 sessions), and 171 patients have participated in the Oncological Physiotherapy programmes, with 732 sessions. This is complemented by group activities on nutrition and promoting healthy habits, in which 59 people participated.
These services are provided free of charge thanks to the support of members, donors, volunteers, and companies committed to the fight against cancer. Therefore, beyond the evening, each ticket and each bid in the auction translates into physiotherapy sessions, psychological support, and companionship for those who need it most.
A Charitable Summer in Marbella
For the residents of Marbella, the gala is not just a social event, but an opportunity to contribute to a cause that closely affects many families. Tickets for the dinner are already available, and the organisation encourages early booking, as the capacity of 600 people usually sells out. The golf tournament, with 120 spots, also promises to be a success.
The date is August 1 at Finca La Concepción. Anyone wishing to contribute without attending can do so through the zero row or by participating in the gift raffle. In any case, solidarity in Marbella has a date and time: the first night of August, with open hearts and pockets.
