Puerto Banús, San Pedro Alcántara, La Bajadilla and El Faro have obtained the UNE 170001-2:2007 certification, which accredits the management of universal accessibility. The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, highlights the assisted bathing service and the operation of 60 lifeguards along 27 kilometres of coastline.

The beaches of Marbella at Puerto Banús, San Pedro Alcántara, La Bajadilla and El Faro have received the UNE 170001-2:2007 certification, which recognises the implementation of a universal accessibility management system. The distinction, awarded by an accredited entity, certifies that these spaces can be enjoyed by anyone with autonomy and safety.

Mayor Ángeles Muñoz has emphasised that this recognition "supports the commitment we have been making to ensure our beaches are prepared to meet the different needs of residents and visitors, and that people with reduced mobility or disabilities can also enjoy the sea." The mayor has focused on the human and material resources deployed this summer.

Since the beginning of the summer season and until September 30, the municipality has more than 60 professionals dedicated to lifeguarding and first aid. The operation includes boats, ambulances, and drones to locate swimmers in distress. "In addition, there is an assisted bathing service designed especially for those with greater mobility difficulties," Muñoz explained.

The assisted bathing service extends throughout the municipal area. "From any point along our coast, from Las Chapas to San Pedro Alcántara, you can contact the assisted bathing coordination to request accompaniment and help to enter the water," the mayor detailed. Marbella has nine beaches equipped with shaded areas and adapted assistance.

The UNE 170001-2:2007 certification not only evaluates physical elements such as walkways or adapted restrooms, but also the planning, organisation, and procedures to detect needs, prevent barriers, and respond to incidents. "Its scope goes beyond the existence of specific elements," Muñoz stressed.

In recent years, the City Council has reinforced the adaptation of the coastline with accessible walkways, showers, and adapted restrooms, shaded areas, and support elements. Muñoz has indicated that the goal is to "continue progressively extending these improvements along the entire coast, reinforcing assisted bathing resources and expanding adapted facilities."

Residents and visitors to these four beaches can now benefit from the certified services, which will be active until the end of the high season. The assisted bathing coordination operates along the entire Marbella coastline, from Las Chapas to San Pedro Alcántara.
