The Málaga-born streamer, who peaks at 100,000 viewers, chose to stay in his coastal hometown instead of moving to the capital.

For a streamer who draws over 100,000 live viewers per broadcast, the decision of where to live might seem trivial. But for Juan Alberto García, known globally as IlloJuan, it's a statement of identity. Born and raised in Fuengirola, the 26-year-old has repeatedly turned down the lure of Madrid's entertainment industry to remain in the Costa del Sol town that shaped his humour and style.

IlloJuan's career took off in 2018 when he moved to Madrid to become the official presenter for PlayStation España. The capital offered networking with top creators like Ibai Llanos, DJMaRiiO and Spursito, and integration into projects like IbaiLand. Yet, after a few years, he chose to return to Fuengirola, citing the quality of life as an irreplaceable factor.

'I can be myself here. In Madrid, the pace is crazy. Here, I walk to the beach and nobody bothers me. It's my safe space,' García said in a recent interview.

The move back was not without professional risks. Most Spanish streaming stars cluster in Madrid or Barcelona, where studios and events are abundant. However, IlloJuan proved geography irrelevant. From his bedroom in Fuengirola, he streams to millions, often starting with his signature line 'Aló, presidentes' from a simple gaming chair. His authenticity has built a loyal fanbase that values his down-to-earth persona over flashy sets.

García holds a Master's degree in Criminal Law, a background he earned while uploading his first YouTube videos in 2008. This academic side contrasts with his on-screen chaos, but it reflects the discipline behind his success. His roots in Fuengirola's streets gave him a storytelling style that resonates with young Spaniards.

The choice to stay in a medium-sized town also keeps him grounded. Away from the pressure of constant public appearances, he can recharge between marathon streams. Fuengirola offers a 30-minute drive to Málaga city, Mediterranean climate and a community that treats him as a local rather than a celebrity.

In an era where influencers chase luxury apartments in Pozuelo de Alarcón, IlloJuan's decision stands out. His house is modest by industry standards, but it's his. 'I don't need a mansion to feel successful,' he told followers. 'I have the sun, the sea and my friends.' That philosophy has earned him respect beyond his viewer numbers.

As of mid-2026, IlloJuan's channel continues to grow. He collaborates with major international streamers but always returns to his Fuengirola setup. The upcoming Marbella Vice event, where he will appear alongside Ibai, demonstrates that he can engage in big productions without relocating. His story is a testament that talent, not location, defines reach.

For aspiring streamers, IlloJuan's path offers a lesson: success does not require abandoning your origins. Fuengirola has become a symbol of that independence—a small coastal town that hosts one of the biggest names in Spanish streaming.
