The Alzheimer Family Caregivers Association (AFA) and the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) will manage the solidarity bars at the Summer Cinema in Marenostrum Fuengirola this summer, featuring four free screenings in July and August.

The Fuengirola City Council has confirmed that the AFA and AECC associations will be responsible for the solidarity bars at the Summer Cinema in Marenostrum Fuengirola. The Councillor for Beaches, José Sánchez, presented the initiative alongside the provincial president of the AECC, Juan Carlos Martín, and AFA representative, Ana Aragonés, highlighting the charitable nature of the event.

The cycle, which is free to access, will consist of four screenings during July and August. The films have been chosen by the public through a Facebook vote at the Miramar Shopping Centre, which collaborates with the council.

Summer Cinema Schedule

The first screening will be on Monday 21st July with How to Train Your Dragon. The following day, Tuesday 22nd July, Sonic 3 will be screened. After a break, the cinema will return on Monday 11th August with The Bad Guys 2 and will conclude on Tuesday 12th August with Wicked.

The sessions will start at dusk, and the Marenostrum Fuengirola venue will be adapted so that attendees can bring towels or beach chairs, in addition to having the seating area of the venue itself.

Solidarity with Every Purchase

The bars managed by AFA and AECC will offer sandwiches, drinks, popcorn, hot dogs, and sweets at affordable prices. All proceeds will be entirely allocated to the care programs for Alzheimer’s and cancer patients, respectively.

Ana Aragonés, AFA representative, thanked the City Council for its support and encouraged locals and visitors to contribute:

“Every purchase helps maintain the services we provide to people with Alzheimer’s and their families.”

Juan Carlos Martín from the AECC emphasised that the funds raised allow for the maintenance of free programs for care, support, and oncology research.

Councillor José Sánchez reminded that the summer cinema is an established tradition in Fuengirola, combining family entertainment with an important charitable component. “We invite everyone to enjoy summer nights at Marenostrum and to support these two organisations that do extraordinary work,” he stated.

For residents of the Costa del Sol, this initiative offers an opportunity to enjoy open-air cinema in a privileged setting while supporting social causes. The screenings are designed for all audiences, featuring animated and adventure films that appeal to both young and old.

The event takes place at Marenostrum Fuengirola, a venue that has already become a cultural and leisure reference in the locality. Those wishing to attend can check the schedule on the City Council's or Miramar Shopping Centre's social media.
