People with functional diversity will be able to start fishing on September 4 at the Fuengirola Marina, in an event organized by the City Council with Club El Puerto and Fuensocial.
The Fuengirola City Council has presented the fourth edition of the Inclusive Fishing Meeting, an event that will take place on Friday, September 4 from 10:30 to 13:00 at the Marina.
The activity, included in the 'Fuengirola en Forma' programme, is organized in collaboration with the Club de Pesca Deportiva El Puerto and Fuensocial, and aims to bring fishing closer to people with functional diversity, including neurodivergent children and adults, people with reduced mobility or those who use wheelchairs.
The Councillor for Sports, Julio Rodríguez, presented the event alongside Victoria Imedio, a board member of the club, and Alicia Gómez, president of Fuensocial. Rodríguez highlighted that the initiative represents "the commitment to a sport for everyone" and thanked the collaboration of the entities: "We want no one to miss the opportunity to enjoy and practice the sport they love."
"It is exciting to see how they enjoy, how they participate, and how they engage in a sport like fishing," explained Victoria Imedio, who mentioned that after the activity, a rice dish will be offered to all participants.
For her part, Alicia Gómez noted that the activity "brings them immense joy because it touches them emotionally" and valued the bond that is created between users and club members.
