Mayor Juan Antonio Lara has presented the modernisation works of the Municipal Auditorium, which include painting, lighting and sound. The space will host everything from international shows to local proposals.
The Municipal Auditorium of Benalmádena has reopened its doors following a comprehensive renovation that lasted several months. The mayor, Juan Antonio Lara, highlighted that the works involved an investment in over 3,000 square metres of interior and exterior painting, as well as pressure cleaning of all floors and the repair of all seats. The aim, according to the mayor, is to turn this space into a cultural reference for the Costa del Sol.
The improvements include the operation of a large lighting and sound structure, new RGB architectural lighting on the façade and inside, and the renewal of safety signage. Plumbing, electrical work, and upgrades to the dressing rooms for artists and technicians have also been undertaken. All of this, according to the City Council, is to provide a more functional and attractive space.
A programme that bets on quality
The mayor emphasised that the renovation is not just aesthetic, but aims to provide content for the auditorium. Juan Antonio Lara thanked the work of the Councillor for Celebrations, Yolanda Peña, and the technical team, as well as the collaboration of Ópera Benalmádena, led by Joaquín Robles.
“Our goal was not only to improve the image of the Municipal Auditorium but to turn it into a space ready to host great shows and continue positioning Benalmádena as a cultural reference for the Costa del Sol,” Lara stated.
The summer programme includes proposals such as Cabaret 2.0 Dinner Show, concerts, musicals, family shows, and major international productions. Some of these events, according to the City Council, are unprecedented in Andalusia. The mayor highlighted that the cultural offering will boost the local economy and attract both residents and tourists.
A space for all audiences
The renovated auditorium aims to be a meeting point for the community. Lara insisted that the municipal government's roadmap is clear: to recover spaces, improve them, and fill them with life.
“A renovated auditorium only makes sense if it is filled with culture, audience, and activity, with easy access and parking,” he affirmed.
For the residents of Benalmádena, this renovation means the opportunity to enjoy top-level shows without having to travel to other towns. Additionally, access and parking have been maintained as strong points of the venue. In the coming weeks, more details of the programme will be revealed, which promises to be varied and tailored to all tastes.
The City Council has confirmed that the auditorium is already operational and that the first events will take place in the coming weeks. Interested parties can check the schedule on the municipality's official channels. Undoubtedly, good news for those looking for cultural plans this summer on the Costa del Sol.
