The General Negotiation Table approved four new firefighter positions for 2026 this Friday, adding to those from 2023, 2024, and 2025. The plan is to call for a total of 13 personnel.
The Benalmádena City Council has given the green light this Friday to expand the Firefighter staff with the partial approval of the Public Employment Offer for 2026. The General Negotiation Table, with representatives from CC OO, UGT, and CSIF, along with the Councillor for Human Resources, Rosa Balbuena, have validated four new positions for the fire prevention and extinction service.
These four positions are in addition to those offered by the current government team, led by Juan Antonio Lara, in previous years. In 2023, three were called, another three in 2024, and three more in 2025. With this year's positions, the aim is to incorporate 13 more personnel into the municipality's fire department.
Balbuena explained that the intention, already communicated to the workers' representatives, is to group all positions into a single public call. “All of them will be added to the four positions approved in the 2026 offer, so the intention is to carry out a broad call now, grouping all of them,” the councillor stated.
The selection process will begin once the new offer is formalised and will progress according to the law until its final resolution and incorporation into the staff. The public call will open the registration period for candidates wishing to apply for one of the positions.
With this expansion, the Benalmádena City Council aims to strengthen an essential service for the safety of residents and the thousands of tourists who visit the town each year. The incorporation of new personnel will mean a relief for the current firefighting team, which will have more resources to tackle emergencies.
