The Benalmádena Association of Merchants and Entrepreneurs (ACEB) announces the 2026 Virgen de la Cruz Decoration Contest, with €1,000 in prizes. The registration period is open until August 11 at 14:00.
The Benalmádena Association of Merchants and Entrepreneurs (ACEB) has opened the registration period for its traditional Decoration Contest in honour of the Feria de la Virgen de la Cruz, which will take place in August. The contest, which is supported by the Benalmádena City Council, will distribute €1,000 in prizes among the best-decorated shops and windows.
The president of the ACEB, Rosa María González Rubia, and the Councillor for Commerce, Raúl Campos, presented the contest rules this morning. The contest includes six prizes: three for the window category (€250, €150, and €100) and another three for the establishment category, which includes interiors and terraces (also €250, €150, and €100).
The initiative aims to achieve a dual objective: to promote a festive atmosphere during the fair days and to give visibility to local commerce. In this regard, photographs of the decorations will be published on the ACEB's Facebook page, where they will receive a large number of visits and interactions from the public, as explained by González Rubia.
The Councillor for Commerce reminded that 'likes' on Facebook can earn extra points. Photographs that receive more than 100 'likes' between August 12 and 17 (starting from 12:00 each day) will automatically add five points to the jury's evaluation, which will visit the participating establishments during the fair to assess the decorations.
Those interested in participating must register via the ACEB phone number 673 744 904 and send a photograph of the decoration. The deadline for registrations is August 11 at 14:00, so the merchants of Benalmádena still have several weeks to prepare their proposals.
The Feria de la Virgen de la Cruz is one of the most anticipated events in the festive calendar of Benalmádena, and with this contest, the municipality seeks to involve establishments in decorating their streets and venues. Participation is open to all businesses and companies in the municipality that wish to join the celebration.
