In Aznalcollar, Seville, the Guardia Civil has carried out the dismantling of a clandestine complex dedicated to the cultivation of marijuana. In the operation, which took place on November 4, 2026, four people were arrested and 2,500 plants were seized, some over two meters tall.

Details of the operation

The complex was located in a mountainous area that was difficult to access, complicating its location. The plantations, spread across the slopes of a valley, featured advanced irrigation systems, electric generators, and drying facilities. Additionally, 50 kilograms of dried buds were found in a designated drying area.

The intervention was carefully planned due to the challenging terrain, which included steep slopes. Foot patrols were conducted and a drone was used to monitor the area and control the escape routes of the suspects.

Cultivation infrastructure

During the inspection, agents discovered multiple cultivation areas that were interconnected by narrow paths created by those responsible for the plantation. The facilities had an irrigation system designed to supply water and electric generators for the maintenance of the plants.

Moreover, living areas were identified that were adapted for those in charge of the crops to stay overnight. These facilities included sleeping spaces and kitchens, allowing occupants to remain in the area for extended periods.

The transportation difficulties due to the location led the Guardia Civil to use a helicopter to extract the seized plants after cutting them, transporting them to a nearby area by a dry riverbed for subsequent destruction.

The detainees have been placed at the disposal of the Court of Sanlúcar la Mayor (Seville) for an alleged crime against public health. They are in custody without the option of bail. The investigation remains open, with the possibility of locating new plantations and other individuals involved in the criminal activity.
