MÁLAGA, 3 NOVEMBER 2026 - The Junta of Andalucía has today presented its budget proposal for 2027, focused on strengthening the development of the province of Málaga. This proposal includes a total investment of €841.9 million, marking a 14.2% increase compared to the previous year.
Key investments in Málaga
Carolina España, third vice president of the Andalusian Government and Minister of Economy, has highlighted that this budget "is what Málaga needs to continue leading." The distribution of investments reflects the regional Government's commitment to the province, expanding the network of health and educational centres with nearly €250 million to address population growth and social needs.
Among the highlighted projects is a €3 million expansion for the Málaga Trade Fair and Congress Centre and collaboration with the City Council on the undergrounding of the Paseo de los Curas.
Strengthening in education and health
The budget allocates €44.04 million for educational infrastructure, including new institutes in Málaga city and Rincón de la Victoria. Additionally, an investment of €50.84 million is planned for the new Virgen de la Esperanza Hospital and €143 million for equipment in health centres.
Improvements in mobility infrastructure are also contemplated, with over €101 million allocated for the operation of the Málaga metro. This includes the extension of the line to the future hospital and an increase in bus services, which will reach €48.3 million in 2027.
The Junta states that, despite underfunding of over €1.6 billion, it continues to work on projects that benefit the people of Málaga. In this context, the budgets also include measures for the creation of new housing, with an expected expenditure of nearly €1 billion across Andalucía, of which specific funds will be allocated to facilitate access to housing in the province.
These budgets are presented as a fundamental tool to ensure the stability and services that Málaga requires in its trajectory of future growth and development.
