The Minister of Social Services, Families and Equality of the Junta de Andalucía, Loles López, met today in Málaga with the new teams of the Andalusian Institute of Women (IAM). In this meeting, the positions were renewed in five of the eight Andalusian provinces, keeping the leaders from Huelva, Jaén, and Málaga.
New IAM team in Málaga
The provincial team of the Andalusian Institute of Women in Málaga will be led by Remedios Cueto Millán. The minister highlighted the commitment and experience of the new team, with the aim of promoting and developing gender equality policies and combating gender-based violence.
Additionally, the lawyer Rosalía Espinosa López was introduced at the meeting, who will take over as the general director of the IAM. The minister emphasized the importance of continuing to expand and consolidate the rights of women, especially those who are victims of gender-based violence and their children.
Future challenges and objectives
Among the established challenges, the need to be vigilant to new forms of violence affecting minors and adolescents was highlighted, especially through social media and the Internet. In this context, projects and programs such as the awareness campaign #RedFlagChallenge and training aimed at families and professionals to prevent cyber gender violence were mentioned.
The renewed leadership and team of the IAM in Málaga have the mission of improving resources aimed at combating male violence, as well as advancing towards real and effective equality between women and men throughout Andalucía.
