The Málaga City Council and the Spanish Federation of Spirits will collaborate on campaigns to prevent alcohol consumption among minors, with special attention to the Málaga Fair and other youth events.

The Local Government Board has approved the signing of a collaboration agreement between the Málaga City Council and the Spanish Federation of Spirits (Espirituosos España) to implement joint actions for information, awareness, training, and prevention aimed at promoting responsible habits and eradicating alcohol consumption among minors.

The agreement, which does not entail financial obligations between the parties, has a duration of four years, extendable for another four. Its main objective is to reduce the risks associated with the improper consumption of alcohol and to foster safe, healthy, and responsible leisure environments, focusing on the Málaga Fair and other youth events.

The municipal strategy will be articulated transversally through the areas of Youth and Social Rights. The Youth Area will be responsible for the leisure mediation line and the promotion of safe environments, with special attention to the fairgrounds and the hospitality sector. To this end, it will facilitate the participation of its team of youth night leisure mediators, collaborate in institutional dissemination, and make municipal spaces such as La Caja Blanca available for preventive activities.

For its part, the Social Rights Area will develop the community prevention line aimed at children, adolescents, and families, integrated into the training actions carried out at the Childhood and Family Centre. Among its commitments is the organization of a training meeting for parents on the occasion of World Alcohol Day, commemorated on November 15, as well as the active integration of the city into the 'Minors Not a Drop' network, to promote protective guidelines against risky behaviours.

Espirituosos España will take on the design and supply of informational and awareness materials for the project, through the delivery of digital brochures on good practices for responsible dispensing in the hospitality sector and specific signage for the fair booths. Awareness actions related to road safety will also be developed.

With this agreement, Málaga reinforces its commitment to preventing alcohol consumption among minors, a concern shared by both the administrations and the spirits sector. The collaboration between the public and private sectors aims to reach young people in their leisure environments and families from the educational and community spheres.
