The Rincón de la Victoria Town Council adapts the hours of the municipal libraries from July 1 to September 15. The study room of Antonio de Hilaria will also open in the afternoons.
The municipal libraries of Rincón de la Victoria will debut their summer hours starting July 1. The change, which will last until September 15, affects the four facilities of the Municipal Library Network: Antonio de Hilaria, Benagalbón, La Cala del Moral, and Manuel Alcántara of Torre de Benagalbón. All of them will open Monday to Friday in the morning, from 09:00 to 14:30 hours.
The main novelty is that the Antonio de Hilaria library will keep its study room operational in the afternoons as well, from 14:30 to 20:30 hours, Monday to Friday. This measure aims to respond to students who continue preparing for exams or doing academic work during the summer. Last year, the council already extended the evening hours in this same library, but only during the month of July; now it is extended until September.
The Councillor for Culture, Paz Couto, has emphasised that "with this summer adaptation we ensure the continuity of the service and keep the study room open to meet the needs of those who continue preparing for exams or developing their academic activity during the summer." She also reminded users that they can access the latest editorial novelties added to the catalogue, which include contemporary narrative, children's and youth literature, comics, essays, and reference works.
For his part, the mayor, Francisco Salado, has stated that "we continue to bet on quality library services, adapting the hours to the summer season without giving up facilitating access to reading, consultation, and study." The Rincón de la Victoria Town Council has informed that the rest of the municipal cultural services will maintain their usual hours during the summer, although it is recommended to check the municipal website for possible specific changes.
The Municipal Library Network of Rincón de la Victoria has nearly 30,000 volumes and an average of 500 daily users during the summer season. With this adjustment in hours, the council aims to promote reading habits and provide an accessible study space during the hottest months.
