The Town Hall of Macharaviaya presented in Nerja the poster and parade for July 4th, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the United States.

The Málaga municipality of Macharaviaya has announced the events for July 4th, 2026, a celebration that this year holds special significance as it coincides with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the United States. The presentation of the official poster and the commemorative parade took place on Monday at the Town Hall of Nerja, a town that collaborates in promoting this historical event.

The parade, which will take place on Friday, July 3rd at 8:00 PM, will start from the Nerja Town Hall and will travel through the main streets to the Balcony of Europe. There, locals and visitors will be able to enjoy a historical recreation that each year positions Macharaviaya as a reference in promoting the figure of Bernardo de Gálvez, the Spanish military who played a decisive role in American independence.

Attending the event were the mayor of Macharaviaya, Antonio Campos; his counterpart from Nerja, Alberto Armijo; the Councillor for Culture of Nerja, Ana María Muñoz; and the illustrator Juan de Aragón, the creator of this edition's poster. A representation of the Order of Granaderos and Damas de Gálvez was also present, adding a historical component to the meeting.

The poster, created by Juan de Aragón, reflects the pride of a town in its history and the strength of a celebration that keeps the legacy of Bernardo de Gálvez alive. The illustrator explained that it has been an honour to contribute, through his work, to promoting one of the most important historical recreations in the province of Málaga.

The collaboration between both town halls is not new: it occurred two years ago when Nerja hosted the presentation of these events for the first time. The mayor of Macharaviaya, Antonio Campos, emphasised the importance of promoting these festivities to neighbouring municipalities to continue spreading the legacy of Bernardo de Gálvez. For his part, Alberto Armijo highlighted his Town Hall's satisfaction in collaborating again with Macharaviaya in promoting a celebration that values the historical and cultural heritage of the region.

July 4th pays tribute each year to Bernardo de Gálvez, a native of Macharaviaya, for his decisive contribution to the birth of the United States. This edition of the commemoration takes on special significance as it coincides with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the North American country. The Town Hall of Macharaviaya invites locals and visitors to participate in the scheduled events, which include the historical recreation and other cultural activities.

The parade on Friday, July 3rd will begin at 8:00 PM from the Town Hall of Nerja and will conclude at the Balcony of Europe, where the recreation can be enjoyed. Admission is free and open to all.
