The Hidrosur Network reports 83.5 litres per square metre between 3 PM and 5 PM in Salto del Negro, with nearly 60 in just one hour. AEMET has already lifted the yellow warning in the province.
The downpour that fell this afternoon in Axarquía has left 83.5 litres per square metre in the area of Salto del Negro, in Benamargosa, between 3 PM and 5 PM, according to data from the Hidrosur Network of the Ministry of Agriculture, as reported by Diario Sur. In just one hour, nearly 60 litres were recorded.
The network itself classifies this intensity as level 2, equivalent to a significant danger warning, similar to the orange level in meteorology. Although much of the province was under yellow alert for rain and storms, the water primarily fell in this point of the eastern region.
The midday also brought precipitation in other areas. In Santón Pitar, in Los Montes de Málaga, 21.7 litres in one hour were recorded (level 1); in Alcaucín, 9.9 litres in one hour; and in the Viñuela reservoir, 9.3 litres in one hour.
At this hour, the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has already lifted the yellow warning for rain and storms in the province of Málaga. However, instability remains on the horizon.
Showers could return starting next Tuesday, when there is a 95% chance of rain. Throughout the rest of the week, some rain may also fall, although with lower probability.
“Instability will persist, a result of the DANA that has fallen today in the province, but the flow from the east over the Mediterranean coasts will decrease,” notes AEMET.
The state agency expects locally heavy showers in large areas of the peninsular territory, which may be persistent in areas of orographic enhancement. On Monday, they will affect the central peninsula, and on Tuesday they will spread across the entire peninsula, although the uncertainty of the forecast remains high.
