Mayor Francisco de la Torre and the president of the Diputación, Francisco Salado, lead the Málaga delegation in Washington, where Málaga and its province are guest destination at the Hispanic Day event organized by the Spanish Embassy.
The city of Málaga and its province are guest destination this year at the institutional event of Hispanic Day celebrated by the Spanish Embassy in the United States in Washington. The Málaga delegation is led by the mayor of the capital, Francisco de la Torre, and the president of the Diputación, Francisco Salado, along with the councillor for Tourism and City Promotion, Jacobo Florido, and the Spanish ambassador to the United States, Ángeles Moreno.
The event, organized by the Embassy, has served to present the main tourist, cultural, and gastronomic attractions of Málaga and its province to institutional, business, cultural, and diplomatic representatives.
The day's agenda also included events related to the figure of Bernardo de Gálvez, born in Macharaviaya, whose role in the independence of the United States is being commemorated on the 250th anniversary. On Wednesday, the delegation laid a floral tribute at his equestrian statue in Washington.
This Thursday, an institutional visit to the portrait of Bernardo de Gálvez in the Capitol, painted by Málaga artist Carlos Monserrate, was scheduled, along with another visit to the National Portrait Gallery, where the portrait of De Gálvez painted in 1781 by José Nicolás de Escalera is displayed.
