The city of Málaga will be the venue for the fourth edition of the Gráficas! festival, which will take place from November 5 to 7, 2026. This event, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Historical Heritage and Sport and sponsored by the Unicaja Foundation, will bring together prominent illustrators from France, the United States, and Spain to reflect on the world of comics.

Activities and Featured Artists

Among the artists participating are the French Léa Mazé and Lisa Blumen, the American Kelly Sue DeConnick, and the Spaniards Aneke, Emma Ríos, and Ana Miralles. The festival will feature an attractive programme that includes talks, book presentations, masterclasses, window displays, a drawn concert, screenings, and an exhibition of original works at the Andalusian Centre for Letters.

The territorial delegate for Culture, Carlos García, mentioned the festival's extension to other Andalusian provinces, which will include masterclasses in cities such as Jaén, Huelva, Sevilla, Cádiz, and Almería from November 3 to 24.

Objectives of the Festival

The illustrator Natacha Bustos, curator of the event, explained that the festival aims to highlight the work of female comic creators and make progress towards a more equal society. For his part, Francisco Cañadas from the Unicaja Foundation emphasised the potential of comics to break down barriers and promote cultural exchange.

Gráficas! 2026 aims to showcase the talent of female creators in various roles such as authors, illustrators, and translators, and will take place in bookstores, libraries, and cultural spaces, primarily in Málaga, Córdoba, and Granada.

Specific activities include talks on different drawing techniques, artistic interventions in shop windows, and a series of conferences and screenings that will culminate in a collective book signing.

The festival will also continue the exhibition ‘The Panels of Gráficas!26’, which will showcase collections of illustrations from the participants that will travel to other venues after their stay at the Andalusian Centre for Letters in Málaga.
