The municipality hosts four free shows from national and international companies in different areas, with performances at 22:00 hours.
The XIV Puppet Festival of Rincón de la Victoria will take place from August 19 to 22 with four free shows aimed at family audiences. The event, organised by the Department of Culture, will travel through different areas of the municipality featuring proposals from prestigious national and international companies.
The Councillor for Culture, Paz Couto, has highlighted “the variety of proposals and techniques that we will enjoy over four nights of programming designed for outdoor enjoyment and in collaboration with prestigious national and international companies.”
The mayor, Francisco Salado, emphasised “the excitement this festival generates each year among young audiences, thanks to its street-level format, which allows the little ones to interact with the stories and characters that come to life.” The mayor insisted that the festival “is now established as an essential cultural event of the summer in our municipality.”
The programme will kick off on August 19 in the Mediterranean Park of Torre de Benagalbón at 22:00 hours with Historias Titiriteras, by Proyecto Caravana. The proposal, recommended for ages three and up, combines glove puppets, live music, and humour in three stories featuring Pepín and other characters.
On August 20, the Plaza de las Flores in Benagalbón will host Varieté, by Periplo Marionetas. The show alternates improvisation and humour with characters such as a pianist, a skating apprentice, an acrobatic cat, a spider, and a peculiar bird.
On August 21, the Gloria Fuertes Square in La Cala del Moral will be the stage for El Gato con Botas, by El Retablo de la Ventana. The company presents a recreation of the classic by Charles Perrault with ten puppets on stage, special effects, and audience participation.
The festival will conclude on August 22 in the Plaza Al Ándalus of Rincón de la Victoria with Peneque y la planta carnívora, by Los Títeres de Miguel Pino. In this adventure, the audience will actively participate with the well-known call: “¡Peneque, dónde te metes!”.
All performances are free and begin at 22:00 hours. The programming is designed for family enjoyment and to bring puppet theatre closer to the residents of the different areas of the municipality.
