The Alhaurín de la Torre Council has hired 60 people for a year through four employment and training programmes from the Junta de Andalucía, with a total budget of €1.42 million.

The Alhaurín de la Torre Council has hired 60 people for a year through four employment and training programmes granted by the Department of Employment, Business and Self-Employment of the Junta de Andalucía. The total investment amounts to €1.42 million, the council reported.

The mayor, Joaquín Villanova, and the territorial delegate of the department in Málaga, Carmen Sánchez, attended a welcome event for the students at the Jabalcuza II Training and Employment Centre. Each of the four programmes is subsidised with €352,809.40 and has 15 places.

Two of the programmes are aimed at those under 30 years old, while the other two target individuals aged between 30 and 45 years. The first, Jabalcuza 30 – Construction III, for those under 30, provides professional certificates in Auxiliary Operations of Continuous Coatings in Construction (Level 1) and Masonry Factories (Level 2).

The second, Jabalcuza 30 – Agriculture II, also for those under 30, includes certificates in Auxiliary Activities in Nurseries, Gardens and Gardening Centres (Level 1) and Maintenance and Installation of Gardens and Green Areas (Level 2), along with 90 hours of additional training in Auxiliary Operations for Land Preparation, Planting and Sowing of Agricultural Crops.

For those aged between 30 and 45 years and long-term unemployed, the programme Jabalcuza 30-45 Decorative offers certificates in Cleaning of Surfaces and Urban Furniture in Buildings and Premises (Level 1) and Decorative Painting in Construction (Level 2). The fourth, Jabalcuza 30-45 Construction, repeats the certificates for Continuous Coatings and Masonry Factories.

The students are employed from the start of the project with a work contract in alternation: in addition to training, they work in municipal centres, buildings, offices, premises, parks and gardens. Throughout the programme, they receive support from a job insertion and employment technician, who carries out prospecting and liaison with the business fabric, labour mediation and management of employment resources.

"Our idea has always been to focus on facilitating training where we know there are many opportunities and jobs," explained Villanova, who congratulated the Junta for these programmes.

The four programmes are already underway, and participants are carrying out their work activities in municipal facilities in Alhaurín de la Torre.
