The Estepona Town Hall has presented the agenda for the Library of Contemporary Cultures for the last quarter of 2026, featuring literature, cinema, poetry, music, workshops, and philosophy. All activities will be free until full capacity is reached.
The Library of Contemporary Cultures (BCC) in Estepona, located in the Mirador del Carmen Cultural Centre, will host a programme from September to December 2026 that includes literature, cinema, poetry, music, visual arts, thought, and workshops. The Estepona Town Hall has detailed the dates and participants for each activity.
The programme will kick off in September with the 'Cinema in the Octave' cycle: on the 15th, at 19:00, a film by Theo Angelopoulos will be screened; on the 29th, at the same time, one by Sofia Coppola. On September 22nd, at 20:00, Enrique Juncosa will present his book 'The music knew what I feel. Essays on art' with a poetry recital. On the 23rd, the reading club will discuss 'Buddenbrooks' by Thomas Mann.
October will start with music: on the 1st, at 20:30, Beatriz Moreno will present 'Versions with much love'. On the 6th, Carlos Barea will present 'Rocío Jurado: the voice that made us feel free' alongside journalist Juan Sanguino. On the 10th, at 11:00, artist Rubén Terriza will conduct the painting workshop 'Metamorphosis'. On the 13th, at 19:00, '50 years of El desencanto' by Jaime Chávarri will be screened.
Flamenco dancer Alberto Sellés will return to the library on October 14th, at 20:00, with the workshop 'Movement is spirit: introduction to flamenco dance'. The following day, at 20:00, the VI International Poetry Prize City of Estepona will be awarded, followed by Sellés' concert 'Sung Dance'. On October 20th, the film cycle will dedicate a session to Todd Solondz; on the 21st, the reading club will discuss 'Los Kodokusha' by Milena Michiko.
On October 27th, Casilda Sánchez Varela and Violeta Dávila will conduct the workshop 'Literature that saves us: essential readings on loneliness, grief, and hope', followed by the presentation of 'Sometimes no one. A journey to the heart of loneliness' by Sánchez Varela. On the 28th, Violeta Gil will offer the recital 'I don't want to go home yet. Some poems and dances at the BCC'.
November will open on the 3rd with a 'Cinema in the Octave' session dedicated to Xavier Dolan. On the 4th, Jacobo Bergareche will present 'Tío grande' in a meeting that will include Estepona's mayor, José María García Urbano. On the 5th, Martí Madula will participate at 13:00 in 'Filming sixteen years', a meeting with educational centres, and at 20:00 will conduct the workshop 'Addressing the void: cinema, correspondence, and distance'. On the 6th, Miguel Palma Molina will give the lecture 'Heartbeats of reason: an approach to philosophy'.
On November 13th, researcher and poet Víctor Bayona will conduct the writing workshop 'Imitating AI: writing from technology'. On the 14th, Raúl Marín Calleja and Muak Studio will present 'You lack people: design, urban transformation, and memory'. On the 18th, the reading club will focus on Chilean poet Alejandro Zambra; on the 19th, designer Pau Aulí will conduct the workshop 'Poetics and adornments'; and on the 24th, cinema will dedicate a session to Jim Jarmusch.
The II Anniversary of the Library of Contemporary Cultures will be celebrated on November 26th with a meeting featuring Manuel Jabois and a concert by Al-Balanc. In December, on the 1st there will be a film session on John Cassavetes; on the 16th, the reading club will discuss 'Beginning, middle, end' by Valeria Luiselli; and on the 18th, Josema García Hormigo will offer the concert 'The composer at the piano: original works adapted for piano'.
