The Municipal Covered Pavilion Rubén Ruzafa will host on Sunday, September 20, from 09:00, a tournament that will bring together various clubs and groups linked to basketball. The day pays tribute to José Cárdenas, a former player of Caja de Ronda and Rincón Basket Club and a resident of La Cala del Moral.
The Municipal Covered Pavilion Rubén Ruzafa in Rincón de la Victoria will be the venue next Sunday September 20, starting at 09:00, for the basketball tournament José Cárdenas Memorial. The event will bring together teams and groups from the municipality and other areas of the province.
The Councillor for Sports, Antonio José Martín, has stated that the day aims to pay tribute to José Cárdenas, a person closely linked to local basketball.
“This sports event aims to pay tribute to José Cárdenas, a beloved figure in the basketball community and closely linked to local sports. What better way to keep his memory alive than through a day of camaraderie around basketball?”
The Mayor, Francisco Salado, has emphasised the importance of keeping Cárdenas' memory alive through a sporting activity and has thanked the involvement of the collaborating clubs and entities.
“We will continue to support these types of initiatives, which help to energise grassroots sports, promote sporting practice, and strengthen the sports community in our municipality.”
The president of Rincón Basket Club (RBC), Fran del Pino, has remembered Cárdenas as a person who left a significant mark wherever he went. Cárdenas was a former player of Caja de Ronda and Rincón Basket Club, among other teams, and a resident of La Cala del Moral.
The competition will feature Puerta Oscura, Sunday at Nine, Cocodrilo Team-Unicaja Basketball Association Málaga, and Rincón Basket Club, with the collaboration of various local entities.
The tournament will kick off at 09:00 at the Rubén Ruzafa municipal pavilion.
