The Sports Area of the Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall and the Rincón Basket Club will launch the sixth edition of the Pequebasket RBC League, which is expected to involve over 350 boys and girls from the municipality's educational centres. The initiative aims to bring basketball closer to schoolchildren and promote the values of sport.
The matches will be held once a month on Sundays at the sports facilities of the schools. The competition will conclude in June with a grand final day at the Rubén Ruzafa Covered Pavilion.
The league is part of the “We Live Together” project, an Inter-centre Peace Project that brings together sports and solidarity proposals for Early Childhood and Primary Education centres. Additionally, the rules of the Valorcesto initiative, promoted by the Andalusian Basketball Federation, will be applied.
The main novelty is the 3x3 format for students from third to sixth grade, while first and second graders will play 5 against 5 matches. The winning teams of the 3x3 will receive trophies, and participants from first and second grade will also receive a trophy.
All participating schools will receive balls and students will obtain a commemorative t-shirt. The centres wishing to participate include CEIP Gregorio Marañón, CEIP María del Mar Romera, CEIP Carmen Martín Gaite, CEIP Manuel Laza Palacios, CEIP Tierno Galván, CEIP Los Jarales, CEIP Josefina Aldecoa, CEIP Candelaria, Novaschool Añoreta, and CEIP La Marina.
