The Fuengirola City Council has launched the Asphalt Plan 2026, which will renew the pavement of twelve streets and over 2,100 linear meters in neighbourhoods such as Los Boliches, Torreblanca, and Miramar. The investment amounts to 677,008.61 euros, and the work will last for 25 days.
The Fuengirola City Council has been implementing the Asphalt Plan 2026 since last week, an initiative that will renew the pavement of a dozen streets in the city. The intervention covers just over 2,100 linear meters, equivalent to 21,970 square meters, in neighbourhoods such as Los Boliches, Torreblanca, and Miramar.
The work is currently focused on the Avenida Alcalde Clemente Díaz Ruiz, one of the main entrances to the town. The mayor, Ana Mula, visited the area along with the Infrastructure councillor, José Sánchez, to check on the progress of the works.
“For Fuengirola to always look in perfect condition, it is not only necessary to carry out comprehensive renovations or new infrastructures, but also to maintain all public spaces continuously. The wear and tear of many of our spaces is ongoing, and we must anticipate actions of this magnitude to ensure road safety and the good condition of our roads,” explained Mayor Ana Mula.
The City Council has allocated 677,008.61 euros to this initiative, which began last week and will extend over the next 25 days. The streets included in the plan are the roundabouts of 600 and Gardenia, in Los Boliches and Torreblanca respectively; the avenues of Las Salinas (a section), Santa Amalia, and Alcalde Clemente Díaz Ruiz; and the streets Madroños, Hierbabuena, Enebros, Aragón, Doctor Fleming, Buganvillas, and Las Palmas.
In addition to resurfacing, the project includes repainting horizontal road markings and replacing manhole covers and inspection chambers. The mayor summarised the objective: “We continue to work to improve Fuengirola every day, not only the appearance of our streets, but, and this is more important, the road safety of everyone who travels on them.”
The work will continue over the next 25 days in various locations, so residents of Los Boliches, Torreblanca, and Miramar will notice temporary road closures and diversions on the streets included in the plan until the work is completed.
