The II Torneo de Fútbol Sala Ciudad de Vélez-Málaga will be held on July 4 and 5 at the Fernando Hierro sports center and Francisco J. Aguilar pavilion. Organized by the Sports Department and Caballete C.F., it features senior, infantile and cadete categories.
Registration for the second edition of the Vélez-Málaga futsal tournament will open on June 29, with senior teams paying 120 euros and youth categories free. The event, scheduled for July 4 and 5, will take place at the Fernando Hierro sports center and the Francisco J. Aguilar pavilion.
The tournament, organized by the Sports Department of Vélez-Málaga City Council and Caballete C.F., aims to strengthen the local futsal scene. Three categories will compete: senior (unlimited age), infantile (players born in 2012 and 2013), and cadete (born in 2010 and 2011).
“This is a meeting built around passion, sport and companionship,” said Manuel Gutiérrez, the local Sports Councillor. He noted that futsal is a fully consolidated sport with many practitioners in the area.
For the senior category, teams of up to 12 players will pay a fee of 120 euros. The champion will receive 650 euros, the runner-up 250 euros and the third-placed team 120 euros. In the infantile and cadete categories, participation is free, but a 30-euro deposit will be required. Teams in these categories can have between 7 and 12 players.
Interested parties can register by calling 645 818 627 or follow updates on Instagram at @caballetecf. The tournament, now in its second year, aims to become a staple in the local sports calendar. Last year’s debut attracted dozens of teams from across the province.
In addition to the tournament, the council also presented the “Las Pistas” camp, a sports and leisure programme for children born between 2010 and 2020. Activities include basketball, futsal, volleyball, gymkhanas and crafts. The camp will run on several weeks in June, July and August, with a morning classroom option available. Gutiérrez encouraged fans to “enjoy two days of passion and companionship around this sport,” highlighting the event’s role in promoting healthy habits and social cohesion.
