The Torrox Fair now has its musical lineup. The municipality will celebrate its festivities between September 30 and October 4 with nine stellar free concerts and a total of 16 musical events, as announced by the Town Hall during the program presentation, information published by Diario Sur.
The mayor, Óscar Medina (PP), and the councillor for Festivals and Popular Traditions, Salvador Escudero, revealed the main names during an event held at Bar La Plaza, in the historic centre. The Plaza de la Constitución will host six of the nine main concerts, while the other three will take place at the Caseta del Mayor, in the Picasso Gardens.
Performing in the Plaza de la Constitución will be Raya Real; Miguel Campello, as part of his 25th anniversary tour; Maki and María Artés, who are celebrating two decades of their career; Malamanera; Javier Ojeda; and Paco Candela, who is currently on a tour celebrating his 30 years on stage. At the Caseta del Mayor, Las Carlotas, Justo Gómez and Rocío Cortés, and Elsa Ríos will perform. These names will be joined by performances from local groups and DJs, as well as participation from local choirs.
This year's opening speech will not be delivered by a single person: it will be pronounced by the members of the Grupo de Coros y Danzas de Torrox de la Asociación Cultural La Rejana, an entity dedicated to preserving the municipality's folklore. The promotional image is created by Elena Bravo, a 19-year-old from La Carraca, in El Morche, who studies Graphic Design in Málaga. The illustration, made from photographs taken by herself for an academic project, recreates the historic centre with the parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, the fountain in Picasso Square, and the colourful umbrellas in the Plaza de la Constitución, featuring a woman in a polka dot red dress as the central figure.
“The best fair in October in all of Andalusia,” assured the mayor, Óscar Medina, regarding the municipal intention.
The councillor for Festivals described the celebration as a fair that is “very cheerful, participative, and family-friendly,” with activities spread throughout the historic centre. The program will include children's and sports activities, the presence of horse riders, the equestrian show by the Peña Caballista in La Granja, and the traditional procession of the Patron Saints as a grand finale.
The Town Hall plans to detail the complete program on its official channels. The fair will extend over five days with free music, religious events, and activities for all audiences.
