The Peña Madridista de Nerja and Maro has been crowned the big winner of the XII Tapas Route of Nerja, which concluded this weekend with an awards ceremony filled with local flavour. The establishment achieved an average rating of 4.4 points and accumulated 712 votes, becoming the highest-rated proposal of this edition.
The event, organised by the Nerja Business Association and the Open Shopping Centre, was attended by the Councillor for Commerce, Antonia Martín, and the president of the association, Raúl Rivas. Both highlighted the success of an initiative that has become a classic in the municipality's gastronomic calendar.
Awards and Recognitions
The first prize included a certificate, €300 in Nerja Centre vouchers, and three months of free sponsorship on Radio Nerja 103.3 FM and Infonerja.com. The second place went to El Olivo Tapería, with €150 in vouchers, and the third to Restaurante Casa Manuela, which received €100. The fourth and fifth places, Restaurante Mogador and Tapas Plaza, received a certificate.
A total of 16 establishments participated in the route, which took place over eleven days. 3,508 tapas were served and 1,930 votes were recorded, with an estimated economic impact of €42,000. These figures reflect the support from locals and visitors for an event that energises local hospitality.
Raffle and Final Touch
The ceremony also included a raffle for a special prize for participants who completed at least nine stamps in their tapas passport. The lucky winner was Michele Stubss, who won a dinner for four at the Peña Madridista de Nerja and Maro, along with a number of litres of Cervezas Victoria equivalent to her body weight. A detail that undoubtedly brought more than one smile among the attendees.
For the people of Nerja and visitors, the Tapas Route is not only an opportunity to taste local cuisine but also a boost for local commerce. The Nerja Centre vouchers, used as prizes, encourage shopping in the historic centre, benefiting the entire community.
This year's edition confirms that the Tapas Route continues to grow and establish itself as a benchmark. The organisers are already working on the next event, which promises to maintain the high standards set by this twelfth edition.
