The Nerja Town Hall expects the works on the new street between the Glorieta de Profesionales de la Sanidad and Avenida de Pescia to begin in the first week of September, with an investment of 948,732.87 euros.
Machinery will make its appearance in Nerja during the first week of September. The Town Hall has confirmed that the works on the new street connecting the Glorieta de Profesionales de la Sanidad, next to the Health Centre, with Avenida de Pescia are expected to start within that timeframe, as reported by the mayor, José Alberto Armijo, after a coordination meeting with the awarded company.
The project, which will be developed along the current Calle Chíllar and Pasaje San Miguel, has an investment of 948,732.87 euros, fully financed with municipal funds, and an execution period of eight months. In that area, the Community Social Services Centre and the Mercadona supermarket are located.
The new road, which will be named Alcalde Gabriel Broncano, will have two-way traffic and will include new sidewalks, public lighting, and water supply, sewage, and stormwater networks. The mayor has emphasized that the action “will have a huge impact on traffic in the area and will help relieve congestion on Calle San Miguel.”
“It will have a huge impact on traffic in the area and will help relieve congestion on Calle San Miguel.”
The connection will also facilitate access to the Health Centre and the future parking building and Transport Interchange from Avenida de Pescia, a facility that the Town Hall plans to incorporate into the area soon. The previous meeting included the councillors for Infrastructures and Urbanism, the head of the Local Police, and the municipal public works engineer, to coordinate mobility actions during the works.
For local residents, road closures or traffic disruptions will be unavoidable in the coming months, although the Town Hall has not yet detailed the diversion plan. The work will be carried out on a stretch that currently experiences a constant flow of vehicles and pedestrians, so it is recommended to pay attention to the provisional signage that will be installed before the start.
