Frigiliana is hosting this weekend the second edition of the Ferrer Ferrán Children's Music Camp, with 80 participants from across the province. The camp includes classes, rehearsals, and a final concert open to the public.

A total of 80 boys and girls will gather this Friday and Saturday in Frigiliana to participate in the second edition of the Ferrer Ferrán Children's Music Camp. The initiative, organised by the Frigiliana Music Band, is directed by musician Guillermo Urrestarazu and features Valencian composer Ferrer Ferrán as a guest conductor.

A camp that grows in participation and projection

The official presentation took place at the local Town Hall, attended by the councillor for Tourism, Carmen Cerezo; the representative of the Music Band, Sonia Castillo; the camp director, Guillermo Urrestarazu; and Ferrer Ferrán himself. They all agreed on highlighting the educational and cultural value of this initiative.

Carmen Cerezo emphasised the organisational effort of the Frigiliana Music Band and thanked the involvement of families, students, and teachers. “This camp reinforces the role of music as an educational tool and brings young people closer to a unique experience of coexistence and learning,” she stated.

For his part, Ferrer Ferrán expressed his satisfaction in participating in a project he considers “unique” for bringing together children from a young age around music. The Valencian composer highlighted that such experiences contribute to the personal and artistic development of the participants.

Intensive training and final concert

The camp will take place over Friday and Saturday with a programme that includes group classes, rehearsals, training activities, and specific masterclasses for different instruments. The 80 children, coming from various parts of the province, will work under the guidance of leading professionals.

The highlight will come on Saturday afternoon. Starting at 20:00 hours, the participants will lead a parade through the streets of Frigiliana, followed by a final concert open to the public. Locals and visitors will thus be able to enjoy the work done during the camp.

The Town Hall has emphasised that Frigiliana is consolidating as a venue for cultural and educational activities linked to music. The previous edition was held in Ardales, and this year the baton has been taken by the Axarquía town, which aims to promote musical training among the youth and ensure generational renewal in the bands.

An opportunity for generational renewal

The camp not only offers musical training but also seeks to create a space for coexistence and exchange of experiences. Sonia Castillo from the Frigiliana Music Band highlighted the joint effort that has made this initiative possible and the opportunity it provides for young musicians to share knowledge with top-level professionals.

For the parents in the region, this activity represents a quality educational alternative over the weekend. Additionally, the final concert will allow the community to enjoy a musical evening in a privileged setting like the historic centre of Frigiliana.

The organisation is already working on future editions, intending to establish the camp as an annual event in the cultural calendar of the Axarquía. For now, the 80 participants and their families already have plans for this Saturday: music, cobbled streets, and a grand finale with the final concert.
