The municipality of Archidona has been awarded the 'Municipalities that Create Brand' prize at an event held this Friday. The initiative, promoted by the Marketing Club of Málaga and the Provincial Council, recognises the council's efforts in projecting its values and attractions.
The Archidona Town Hall received this Friday the 'Municipalities that Create Brand' distinction, an award that acknowledges the corporation's work in promoting local resources. The commemorative plaque now adorns the entrance of the Town Hall, symbolising the effort to project an attractive image of the municipality to the outside world.
The day began with a participatory activity: provincial delegates collaborated with children from the local summer school in designing a project that will be unveiled in September. The aim is to gather the opinions of the younger generations on the present and future of their urban environment, an initiative that seeks to involve the youth in building the territorial brand.
A recognition of external projection work
The official award ceremony was attended by the mayor, Juan Manuel Almohalla Astorga, who expressed gratitude for the support of the institutions. The mayor highlighted that the award validates the visibility of the area's resources, especially protected natural spaces such as the Lagunas de Salinas and the Hoz de Marín, two locations of great ecological wealth that are part of the municipality's tourist and environmental appeal.
For his part, the president of the Marketing Club of Málaga, Álvaro Castro Espejo, emphasised Archidona's merit in being one of the five awarded municipalities in the province. “Creating a brand is not easy, and a brand is ultimately created because it has values and something to tell, and something that is truly worth projecting outward,” he argued during his speech, congratulating the council's dissemination efforts.
A model of sustainable development for the region
The head of the Social Innovation and Depopulation Unit of the Provincial Council of Málaga, Resurrección Hernández Gómez, expressed her satisfaction with the model of joint work. “For the Provincial Council, it is more than pride to have a town hall that always looks to the future, that always wants to do more,” she stated, emphasising that the locality has established itself as an example of sustainable development for the entire region.
The 'Municipalities that Create Brand' award is an initiative promoted by the Marketing Club of Málaga in collaboration with the Social Innovation Centre La Noria, dependent on the Provincial Council. The objective is to highlight the work of town halls that bet on a territorial brand strategy to attract visitors, investments, and talent.
For the residents of Archidona, this recognition represents a boost to the municipality's visibility, which can leverage this distinction to promote its natural, cultural, and heritage resources. The plaque placed at the Town Hall is a constant reminder of the council's commitment to external projection.
The mayor announced that the Town Hall will continue working along the same lines, with new initiatives that involve citizens and strengthen the Archidona brand. The participatory project with the children from the summer school is just the first step in a long-term strategy that aims to engage all generations in building local identity.
The award presentation comes at a time when the Provincial Council of Málaga is promoting social innovation policies and combating depopulation, and Archidona stands as a benchmark in the region for its ability to attract resources and generate opportunities. The 'Municipalities that Create Brand' award is undoubtedly a boost to that work.
