The Manilva Town Hall, with the support of the Provincial Council, begins to develop its Municipal Equality Plan after registering the internal plan in March.
The Manilva Town Hall has launched the development of its Municipal Equality Plan, a project that comes after the internal plan aimed at the council's workers was registered in REGCON last March. The initiative, driven by Mayor Mario Jiménez and the Councillor for Equality and Diversity, Laura Salazar, has the backing of the Provincial Council of Málaga through the 2026 gender equality grant call.
The new plan is based on a diagnosis of the municipality's situation to identify the real needs in terms of equality. From there, concrete measures will be adopted to ensure equal treatment and opportunities between men and women, as well as to eliminate any discrimination based on sex in the workplace.
Citizen participation will be one of the key aspects of the process. The Town Hall plans to involve associations, social entities, and various groups from the municipality to define the actions, in a process that will unfold over the coming months.
With this plan, Manilva strengthens its commitment to effective equality, an area in which it had already made strides with the internal plan for municipal employees. The Provincial Council of Málaga provides funding and technical advice, according to municipal sources.
The next step will be to gather citizen contributions and draft the final document, which must be approved by the municipal plenary. The Town Hall encourages residents to participate in the upcoming informational sessions, the dates of which will be announced soon.
