The Sports Area of Antequera will keep the weight training room, directed activities, and functional box open from August 1 to 15. A pioneering initiative with rates starting at 9 euros.

The Antequera Town Hall has launched a special sports programme for the first half of August for the first time. The weight training room, directed activities, and functional training box will remain open until the 15th, a measure that responds to user demand and aims to promote healthy habits during the summer.

The Deputy Mayor for Sports, Juan Rosas, explained that the initiative aims to "expand the possibilities for sports practice during the summer period." Many athletes had requested the opportunity to continue training in August, so a specific programme has been prepared for these fifteen days.

Prices are proportionally reduced due to the shorter period. Thus, access to the weight training room costs 9 euros; the sports member option, which includes weight training and directed activities, costs 14 euros; and the complete option with box and cross training costs 17.50 euros.

The weight training room is open from Monday to Thursday from 07:00 to 14:00 and from 17:30 to 21:30, while on Fridays the evening session ends at 20:30. Directed activities take place from Monday to Friday in the morning, between 08:00 and 11:00, and from Monday to Thursday in the evening, with classes at 18:30, 19:30, and 20:30.

The offer includes pilates, toning, healthy back, GAP, fitness, functional training, and zumba, with 50-minute sessions in Room 1. Additionally, the sports box offers cross training from Monday to Friday at 07:00, 08:00, and 09:00.

Rosas has encouraged both regular users and those who have not yet participated in the municipal programme to come to the facilities: “We have air-conditioned spaces and the necessary conditions for training normally and safely, despite the high temperatures typical of August.”

Registrations can be made at the municipal sports facilities during the days they are open. This is the first time the council has offered a specific programme in August, a further step to consolidate sports as a leisure option in the city.
