The Torremolinos City Council plans an investment of 15.8 million euros to renew cleaning and waste collection vehicles and machinery, with subrogation of the entire staff and digital monitoring of the service.
The City Council of Torremolinos has presented a project to renew the cleaning and waste collection service with an investment of 15.8 million euros. The aim is to improve the care of streets and beaches, attend to the containers, and respond more swiftly to incidents, according to the economic study by the council.
The design includes new vehicles and machinery for collection, sweeping, washing, and beach cleaning. The planning will adapt to the seasons of higher activity, with daily collection of residual waste during peak season, including holidays, and daily cleaning of the sand. The washing and cleaning equipment will be prepared to use regenerated water.
The proposal advocates for the subrogation of 100% of the staff assigned to the service, in accordance with the applicable agreement and regulations. The incoming company must assume the corresponding employment relationships, respecting salaries, seniority, working hours, and the rights that must be maintained. The council believes that the experience of the workers from LITOSA is an essential asset for this new phase and that the transition must be planned taking into account effective retirements and the obligations of replacement and replenishment.
The planned management platform will allow the City Council to track routes via GPS, consult the work carried out, and supervise incidents in real time. Citizen reports will have registration and tracking, so that technology will serve to verify the quality of the service and better organise resources.
The project is currently in the economic study and design phase, with no details yet on the bidding schedule or the dates for the new resources to come into operation.
