The Local Police of Mijas now has a new crash vehicle that operates as a mobile office, allowing them to conduct procedures, take statements, and complete tasks without returning to the station.

The Mijas Town Hall has put into service a crash vehicle that turns any police intervention into a mobile office. The unit, presented this Thursday, allows officers to carry out procedures, take statements, and complete all administrative processing at the scene, eliminating the need to travel to the police station.

A mobile office for the Local Police of Mijas

The local police councillor, Juan Carlos Cuevas, explained that "we are not just talking about another vehicle, but a tool that will allow our officers to carry out almost all necessary tasks without leaving the intervention site." The reduction in travel and the speeding up of procedures will, according to the councillor, represent a qualitative leap in the response capacity of the force.

The interior of the vehicle is equipped with a table, laptop, printer, specific lighting, and autonomous power supply. Officers will be able to assist citizens, collect testimonies, consult databases, prepare documents, and print procedures right from the scene, without interruptions or delays.

More time on the street and better service to citizens

The new unit can be used in traffic accidents, police checks, preventive operations, large events, and emergencies. By centralising management at the intervention site, it prevents officers from having to leave the area to carry out procedures that previously required their transfer to municipal facilities. This translates into a continued presence and a quicker response for residents.

Cuevas emphasised that "to demand our officers respond effectively to any situation, we also have the obligation to equip them with the best means." The councillor added that "every resource we incorporate facilitates their work, improves their response capacity, and allows them to spend more time on the street, protecting and assisting our residents."

State-of-the-art technology for Mijas security

In addition to the workspace, the vehicle is equipped with digital communication systems and GPS location, interior and exterior recording cameras with real-time transmission, light and sound signalling, an information panel, and equipment for marking, traffic regulation, extrication, fire extinguishing, and initial emergency response. All of this makes it a versatile mobile command centre.

The addition of this vehicle complements other improvements initiated by the Department during this term, such as the acquisition of new motorcycles, the reactivation of the Cycling Unit, and the progressive modernisation of officers' equipment. The goal, according to Cuevas, is "for police officers to have the most modern tools suited to the situations they face every day."

The new crash vehicle is already operational and its regular use is expected to reduce intervention times and improve the efficiency of police service throughout the municipality of Mijas.
