The Torre del Mar Tourist Office hosts an exhibition from this Friday, July 17, featuring the 25 Christmas postcards created by the painter from Vélez, Evaristo Guerra, for Diario SUR. The exhibition will be open until August 10.
The exhibition, which can be visited until August 10, brings together for the first time the 25 original works that Evaristo Guerra created over more than two decades as Christmas postcards for Diario SUR. The artist, originally from Vélez-Málaga, has returned to Torre del Mar 47 years after his first exhibition in the town.
The deputy mayor of Torre del Mar, Jesús Pérez Atencia, highlighted during the presentation the artistic and sentimental value of works that, as he pointed out, are part of the memory of numerous families and reflect the painter's personal vision of the landscapes, light, and nature of the Axarquía.
The Councillor for Culture, Alicia Ramírez, emphasized that Evaristo Guerra is one of the main artistic references of the municipality and defended the importance of bringing culture closer to all areas of Vélez-Málaga. She thanked the collaboration of Fundación Unicaja, Diario SUR, Fundación Evaristo Guerra, Novaschool, and the entities involved in the organization.
A journey through Christmas memory
The 25 postcards, which accompanied the Christmas greetings of the Málaga newspaper for years, offer a journey through the artistic evolution of Evaristo Guerra. Each one captures the essence of Christmas from a personal perspective, with landscapes and scenes that evoke the light and colours of the region.
The artist himself explained that the exhibition marks his return to an exhibition hall in Torre del Mar 47 years later after his first exhibition in the town. He also highlighted that it is the first time the 25 postcards are exhibited together, making this event a milestone for fans of his work.
Two fans for the Feria de Málaga
In addition to the originals and the postcards published by the newspaper, the exhibition includes two fans designed by the painter for the Feria de Málaga, belonging to his personal collection. These fans, which are also part of the exhibition, add extra value to an already unique display.
For the residents of the Eastern Costa del Sol and the entire province, this exhibition is an opportunity to closely enjoy the talent of an artist who has managed to capture the essence of the Axarquía in each of his works. The exhibition, which is free to access, becomes a perfect cultural plan for this summer in Torre del Mar.
The exhibition will be open at the Torre del Mar Tourist Office until August 10, from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00, Monday to Saturday. An unmissable event for those who want to discover or rediscover the Christmas magic through the eyes of Evaristo Guerra.
