The Mijas Town Hall joins the FEMP's call and will hold gatherings on September 2 at 20:00 in Mijas Pueblo, Las Lagunas, and La Cala.
The Town Hall of Mijas will join this Wednesday, September 2, the institutional support events for Ceuta called by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP). The gatherings will take place at 20:00 hours at the doors of the town hall in Mijas Pueblo, and at the deputy mayor's offices in Las Lagunas and La Cala.
The mayor, Ana Mata, has called on all residents, groups, and social entities in the municipality to join this initiative and express their support for the people of Ceuta. Mata has stated that the aim is to defend Spain's territorial integrity and the security, coexistence, and dignity in the autonomous city, which has been going through a critical situation for over a month.
“Ceuta is not alone, and Mijas will demonstrate this on Wednesday from 20:00 in simultaneous institutional events in the town, Las Lagunas, and La Cala, just like the rest of the Spanish municipalities; because we share with the people of Ceuta a feeling of belonging, identification, and solidarity in such a delicate situation,” said Mata.
The FEMP's call, launched on August 25 to the 8,132 municipalities in the country, follows the visit of its president, María José García-Pelayo, to Ceuta, where she met with the president of the autonomous city, Juan Jesús Vivas. Both described the situation as “the most difficult moment in recent history and one of the most serious situations, from the perspective of national security, faced by Spain.”
To ensure the events run smoothly, the Mijas Local Police and the relevant municipal services will implement the necessary organizational, security, accessibility, and traffic regulation measures at each location.
