The contracting board of the Vélez-Málaga City Council is analysing eight bids this Tuesday to complete the Las Biznagas urbanisation in Benajarafe, with a budget of €1.49 million and an eight-month deadline.
The contracting board of the Vélez-Málaga City Council meets this Tuesday to begin analysing the eight bids submitted for the tender for the completion works of the Las Biznagas urbanisation in Benajarafe. The contract, with a budget of €1,496,923.79, includes an execution period of eight months.
The new tender comes after the first one, launched in August 2025, was left deserted. The City Council then reviewed the economic conditions and updated the budget to adapt it to the evolving costs in the construction sector and encourage company participation.
The mayor, Jesús Lupiáñez, has praised the response from companies as a sign that the process is moving forward: “Today the contracting board begins to analyse the eight proposals submitted, and therefore, we are taking another step towards awarding works that residents have been waiting for many years.”
“When a tender is left deserted, it is easy to postpone it. We decided to seek a solution. We have updated the project to reflect the current market reality, and today we have eight companies interested in carrying out these works,” the mayor of Vélez stated.
The project includes the repair of streets, pavements, and surfaces, renewal of signage, improvement of public lighting, and the restoration of green areas with new plantings, automated irrigation, pathways, benches, and bins. A new children's play area will also be created, compliant with safety and accessibility standards.
In some streets, the sidewalks are expected to be widened to two metres, and in pedestrian passages, the widths from the Partial Plan will be restored, improving accessibility and urban and landscaped elements.
