The Mijas Town Hall grants 800,000 euros in subsidies to thirteen clubs in the municipality, the highest amount to date. The aid benefits over 3,200 athletes and corresponds to the 2025 call.
The mayor of Mijas, Ana Mata, delivered the subsidies to thirteen clubs in the municipality this Wednesday at the sports city of Las Lagunas. The total amount rises to 800,000 euros, the highest granted so far by the Town Hall under this aid scheme.
The beneficiaries are the Club de Ajedrez Tarmina, the Club Deportivo Sala de Armas Adalid Mijas, the Club Deportivo La Dorada, the Club Deportivo Pescadores Mosca Málaga Fly Fishing, the Club de Bádminton Suel, the Club Natación Mijas, the Club Deportivo Raquetas de Mijas, the Club de Balonmano San Francisco de Asís Mijas, the Club Deportivo Mijas, the Club Deportivo La Cala de Mijas, the Club Deportivo Mijas Unión Basket, Cándor Club de Fútbol and the Club Polideportivo Mijas Las Lagunas.
These entities serve over 3,200 athletes in the municipality. The financial assistance corresponds to 2025 and is paid once each club has completed the required documentation. The Town Hall grants them through competitive bidding, in accordance with the Subsidies Law.
“Supporting our sports clubs is investing in our city. The Mijas Town Hall firmly believes in sport as a tool for education, integration, and social cohesion,” Mata stated during the event.
The covered expenses include federation licenses, transport for players and coaches, maintenance, personnel and independent professionals, accommodation, purchase, rental or repair of equipment and materials, medical services, physiotherapy and pharmacy, insurance, administration and operation, rental of sports facilities, and acquisition of trophies and awards.
The councillor for Sports, Mari Francis Alarcón, noted that this is the first time the call and its resolution coincide with the start of the sports season.
