Nikoline, the 17-year-old Norwegian teenager hit on the A-7 in Mijas, had requested a VTC from Puerto Banús and asked to be dropped at the same point where the incident occurred. The Civil Guard continues to search for the driver who fled.

Nikoline, the 17-year-old Norwegian teenager who died after being hit on the morning of July 6 on the A-7 in Mijas, had previously requested a VTC service in Puerto Banús, Marbella. According to sources from the investigation, the teenager asked the driver to drop her at the same kilometre point where the tragic event later occurred. The driver of the car that struck her fled the scene and remains unidentified.

A night that ended in tragedy

Nikoline's family reported her missing after being unable to contact her following the young woman's viewing of the Norway football team's match against Brazil, which took place on the night of July 5. Between 3:00 and 4:00 in the morning, she was last seen with friends at a nightclub in Puerto Banús. At 5:20, several witnesses alerted emergency services to a hit-and-run at kilometre 1027 of the A-7, heading towards Marbella.

Emergency services, the Civil Guard Traffic Unit, and Road Maintenance personnel were dispatched to the scene. The victim was identified thanks to the prior report from her family, who had alerted authorities that they could not communicate with her. The autopsy confirmed that the death was due to the impact, but the Civil Guard is keeping all hypotheses open.

The investigation focuses on the fleeing driver

The Deputy Government Representative in Málaga, Javier Salas, stated on Thursday that "everything suggests it is a hit-and-run, but all details of the case are being investigated." Officers are working to reconstruct the minutes leading up to the incident and determine if any other vehicle was involved or if the teenager was being pursued. So far, no one has been arrested, nor has the car that struck her been located.

The news has caused great shock within the Norwegian community residing on the Costa del Sol and among the residents of Mijas, who are closely following the developments of the investigation. The Civil Guard is appealing to anyone who may have information about the driver or the vehicle, a dark-coloured car heading towards Marbella, to contact them.

The Mijas Town Hall has expressed its sorrow over the incident and has offered cooperation with the investigation. Meanwhile, Nikoline's family is seeking answers and justice. The case remains under judicial secrecy.
