A 33-year-old Senegalese man has died after being shot in Pintor Pacheco street in Marbella, sources close to the case have confirmed to this newspaper. The victim had two bullet wounds in the abdomen and died at the scene before medical services could take him to the hospital.
The call to 112 was made around 2:15 AM, when a neighbour alerted that there was an individual lying in the street. Initially, the hypothesis of a traffic accident was considered, but upon arrival, the officers discovered the bullet wounds.
Officers from the Specialised and Violent Crime Unit (UDEV) of the National Police Station in Marbella have taken charge of the investigation, which is being processed as a homicide. Local Police and medical personnel also arrived, who could only confirm the death.
According to sources from the case, minutes before another call was received reporting a fight in the same area where several shots were heard. Witnesses described a confrontation between three men and indicated that one of them was injured, while the other two fled in a vehicle.
The investigations, still in the initial phase, suggest that the attack is not linked to organised crime, according to the same sources. The National Police are keeping the investigation open to clarify the facts and locate those responsible.
The incident has once again highlighted the security situation on the Costa del Sol, where several violent episodes have been recorded in recent months. The judicial protocol has already been activated, and the body has been removed for transfer to the Institute of Legal Medicine.
