Jokim Peter Broberg, sentenced to nine years in prison for drug trafficking, gives his first interview and points to Ángeles Muñoz, 'Titi', for stripping him of his inheritance. The Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office requests his imprisonment due to flight risk.
Five years of silence have been broken. Jokim Peter Broberg, stepson of the former mayor of Marbella Ángeles Muñoz —known as 'Titi'—, has given his first interview after being sentenced to nine years in prison for drug trafficking and money laundering. And he has not held back: he directly accuses his stepmother of having stolen all his inheritance.
“My stepmother has stolen everything from me”, Broberg has asserted, claiming that Muñoz has put the assets that belonged to him in his siblings' names. According to his account, he does not even receive a euro to pay for his legal defence.
“Political” conviction and accusations against the former mayor
The former mayor's stepson maintains that his conviction is a “political issue”. He claims that the investigation against him began because his father was married to the then mayor of Marbella, and that it is all part of an orchestrated persecution.
In the interview, Broberg attempted to justify a phrase that the Police recorded in a phone conversation: “Now we have all the bloody Andalucía”, said just after the PP won the Andalusian elections. The accused claims he was speaking in Swedish and was drunk, and that he was actually referring to the fact that without the PSOE in the Junta, changes could be made in Marbella.
“I’m speaking in Swedish and drunk,” Broberg said about the recorded call.
The evidence against him also includes a call in which his father warned him that the Police were recording their conversations. He has not wanted to comment on the giant pool at his house, which could fit a jet ski.
Flight risk and possible imprisonment
This Monday, the Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office requested Broberg's imprisonment, considering that there is a high risk of flight. For now, he remains free, although he has already announced that, once his situation is resolved, he will go to Brazil.
For the residents of Marbella, the case has been a judicial soap opera that implicates the former mayor of the PP, although she has never been charged. The shadow of corruption and drug trafficking has loomed over the City Council for years, and this new statement reopens the debate about the political environment.
The trial has already sentenced Broberg, but he insists on his innocence. Meanwhile, the National Court must decide whether to order his immediate imprisonment. The decision could come in the coming days.
