Estepona Town Hall has completed the comprehensive renovation of the Mirador de Cancelada avenue, which will be inaugurated this Friday, July 31, at 20:30. The road features new paving, sidewalks, and sanitation networks, as part of a €2.95 million project.

The Mirador de Cancelada avenue in Estepona now boasts a completely renewed appearance. The Town Hall has announced the completion of the comprehensive renovation works on this road, which will be inaugurated today at 20:30 with an event open to residents. This action is part of the first phase of a more ambitious plan that will transform the main streets in the Cancelada area.

The works included the installation of new paving and sidewalks, as well as the renewal of sanitation, supply, stormwater, and lighting networks. Tree planting has also taken place, following the design already applied in other renovated streets in the urban fabric of Estepona, with a more pedestrian-friendly character and modernization of underground infrastructures.

The avenue, which will now have a single direction of traffic heading south, joins the list of streets in the municipality that have undergone profound transformation in recent years. The objective, according to municipal sources, is to standardise the appearance of the main roads and improve the quality of life for residents.

This action is part of a broader project that includes the comprehensive reform of the main roads in Cancelada and has a total budget of €2,951,493. The investment will be carried out in phases, meaning that no new work will begin until the previous one is fully completed and has the completion certificate.

The second phase, scheduled for next September, will focus on Marqués del Duero street, which will also have a single direction of traffic, but in this case heading north. Subsequently, the reurbanisation of Montemayor street will take place, thus completing the transformation of the three main roads in Cancelada.

Estepona Town Hall has opted for a joint contracting of the works, but executing them in a staggered manner. This decision, as explained by the Town Council, aims to ensure that each road can fulfil its function of passage and service while the works are being carried out, minimising inconvenience to residents and ensuring mobility in the area.

With the completion of these works, residents of Cancelada and those passing through the Mirador avenue will be able to enjoy a more accessible and safer space. The new configuration, with a single traffic lane, allows for more space for pedestrians and trees, in line with the municipality's commitment to more sustainable mobility.

The investment in this area of Estepona is not an isolated case. In recent years, the Town Hall has been developing an ambitious plan to remodel streets and avenues in various parts of the municipality, with special attention to the more established areas. The action in Cancelada responds to a long-standing demand from residents for improvements to basic infrastructures.

The inauguration of the new Mirador de Cancelada avenue is scheduled for 20:30 this Friday. The event, to which all citizens are invited, will serve to showcase the results of the works and allow attendees to see the new appearance of the road firsthand.

With this action, the Town Council considers one of the planned actions for this year in urban infrastructure to be fulfilled. The next event will be in September, when the works on Marqués del Duero street will begin, which will last for several months. In the meantime, residents of Cancelada can already enjoy a renovated avenue, more modern and adapted to current needs.
