Estepona City Council resumes the 'Know Your Surroundings, Know Your Province' programme in October with four free excursions for young people aged 18 to 35. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with the first outings on 17 and 24 October.
The Youth Delegation of the Estepona City Council is restarting the 'Know Your Surroundings, Know Your Province' programme in October, which offers free trips and excursions to young residents aged between 18 and 35. The initiative includes four itineraries until the end of the year featuring hiking, cultural visits, and educational activities in natural spaces in Estepona and the province of Málaga.
The calendar kicks off on 17 October with a hiking route along the Camino Nicola. On 24 October, a visit to Caminito del Rey and Ardales is planned. In November, on the 21st, participants will hike the Pico de Los Reales de Sierra Bermeja. The programme concludes on 12 December with a visit to Málaga to explore its museums and Christmas lights.
Places are limited and are granted on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested individuals must send an email to juventud@estepona.es before 7 October for the visit to Caminito del Rey and before 9 October for the Camino Nicola route. Each excursion will have specialised coordinators and informative materials provided by the tourist offices of the destinations.
The councillor in charge of the Youth area, Julia Simón, explained the purpose of the initiative:
"It was created to promote respect and conservation of the environment, encourage healthy leisure alternatives, and reinforce social and educational values among young people."
The programme also aims to promote gender equality and the inclusion of LGTBI diversity and people with disabilities. Through these outdoor activities, Estepona City Council intends to enhance young people's knowledge of the natural and cultural heritage of the province.
