The City Council of Málaga will close the Paseo del Parque to vehicle traffic on Sunday 20th September from 8:30 to 14:30, as part of European Mobility Week. The day includes exhibitions by the Local Police, CPR workshops, and a display of historical buses from the EMT.
The Paseo del Parque in Málaga will be closed to vehicular traffic on Sunday 20th September from 8:30 to 14:30. The restriction is part of a new edition of Car-Free Day, which the City Council celebrates during European Mobility Week, as reported by the Council and Diario Sur.
The week's programme, which runs from Wednesday 16th to Tuesday 22nd September, revolves around the theme 'Mobility for All'. Municipal areas and collaborating organisations have organised workshops, technical days, road safety activities, and awareness-raising actions.
During the morning of Sunday, the Local Police will showcase one of their vehicles and various traffic control measures, and will conduct demonstrations of the tests and preventive checks they usually carry out. Civil Protection will set up an exhibition of equipment and materials from their volunteer groups and will conduct workshops on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). There will also be bicycle repair workshops and skill challenges.
The Environmental Sustainability Area will have a tent with children's activities focused on environmental awareness. The EMT will display a collection of historical and current buses to showcase the evolution of urban public transport in the city.
Between 10:00 and 13:00, the Sports Area will offer a figure skating exhibition featuring the Al Andalus Skating Club and CPV Málaga. The Mobility Area will set up an information point regarding Málaga's Low Emission Zone, where citizens can ask questions.
The General Directorate of Traffic, through the Provincial Headquarters of Málaga, has scheduled road safety education activities for different age groups. On Thursday 17th September, around 40 primary school students from CEIP Bergamín will walk to the Active Participation Centre Málaga Trinidad I, where they will share games and workshops on road safety with the elderly residents of the centre.
On Monday 21st September, the DGT will conduct a workshop in the university area simulating the effects of alcohol, drugs, and fatigue on driving, open to the general public but aimed particularly at young people. Using simulation glasses and a practical route, the aim is to raise awareness of how these circumstances affect the necessary capabilities for safe mobility.
The programme will continue on Tuesday 22nd September with a walking route organised by the DGT for users of the Social Centre for the Elderly 'Doctor Marañón', featuring an educational activity about the operation of air quality monitoring stations in collaboration with the Environmental Sustainability Area.

The closure of the Paseo del Parque will affect drivers who usually use this route to cross the city centre during the morning of Sunday. The scheduled activities will take place in the same area between 8:30 and 14:30.
