The Civil Guard seizes over 115,000 counterfeit jewels in the Balearics

Intervention in Palma de Mallorca

The Civil Guard has carried out an operation in Palma de Mallorca in which over 115,000 counterfeit luxury jewels were intercepted. The operations, conducted by the Fiscal and Border Patrols (PAFIF), resulted in the seizure of bracelets, earrings, necklaces, bangles, and rings in a warehouse in the Son Castelló industrial estate.

Details of the operation

This investigation has developed over several months, initiated following various inspections in businesses across the Balearics. The documentation obtained during these actions allowed for the identification of the logistics centre from which these products were distributed wholesale and retail.

Among the seized items were:

38,493 bracelets
35,994 pairs of earrings
22,064 necklaces
10,811 bangles
8,173 rings

The value of these pieces, if they had been sold as originals, could amount to hundreds of millions of euros. However, the counterfeit jewels were marketed at much lower prices.

The operation is ongoing, and further actions are being carried out within the investigation. Four individuals have been investigated for their alleged responsibility in this industrial property crime.

The Civil Guard has reminded of the risks associated with the marketing of counterfeit products for consumer health, as well as the economic harm this activity generates for legitimate brands and establishments that comply with current regulations.
