The Nerja Town Council will sell the municipal property located in the Balcón de Europa building to raise funds. The Plenary has already approved the change in legal classification of the flat.

The Nerja Town Council will put flat 1ºD on the first floor of portal 1 of the Balcón de Europa building up for sale. The aim is to obtain financial resources to fund municipal investments for the benefit of the local residents.

The Plenary of the Corporation took the first step by approving a proposal for the property to cease being a public domain asset and become a heritage asset, a prerequisite for its disposal. The initiative was passed with votes in favour from PP and Podemos Izquierda Unida and the abstention of PSOE.

The property has housed the Andalusian Centre for Entrepreneurship (CADE) for years, along with various job orientation and insertion programmes, such as Andalucía Orienta, Professional Experiences for Employment (EPES), and Employment and Training Programmes. The Councillor for Economy and Finance, Ángeles Díaz, explained that the premises are no longer necessary for these services following their relocation to the Training and Employment Centre.

Díaz noted that, once the processing is completed and the sale formalised, the proceeds will be used to strengthen the Town Council's investment capacity, allowing for the promotion of new projects and actions of general interest. The sale is part of the government's strategy to balance the accounts and provide resources for pending initiatives.

The next step will be the valuation of the flat and the public call for its sale, a process that could take several months. Interested parties will be able to consult the conditions at the Town Council itself when the application period opens.
