Nerja is celebrating activities from today, October 19, for World Breast Cancer Day, which will continue until October 25, culminating in a solidarity march.
The Nerja Town Hall has approved its adherence to the manifesto of the Spanish Association Against Cancer, which calls for more humane, comprehensive, and tailored care for women with breast cancer. The Local Government Board greenlit this adherence as part of the commemoration of World Breast Cancer Day.
The programme, organised by the Health Department alongside the AECC of Nerja, aims to raise awareness about prevention, early detection, and research. The president of the AECC in Nerja, Eduardo Rubio, explained that the activities began this Monday with an information table at the Health Centre.
On Saturday, October 24, the Arches of the Balcony of Europe will host a sensitisation day featuring zumba, theatre for seniors, and the formation of a pink ribbon with balloons. On Sunday, the 25th, starting at 12:00 PM, the manifesto will be read, followed by a solidarity march to the José Bobadilla Álvarez Sports Pavilion, where participants can enjoy a paella.
Throughout the week, the Town Hall and other municipal buildings will be illuminated in pink. The Health Councillor, Javier Rodríguez, has encouraged residents to participate in the march on Sunday.
